Financial Support for Nabokov Conferences--Call for Proposals

By stephen_blackwell, 19 October, 2018

Dear IVNS members,

The International Vladimir Nabokov Society has been granted funds to support conferences each year. The Society will distribute an annual total of up to US$10,000 to support the operations of one or two conferences. The goal of the Society is to create and/or cosponsor conferences in all major regions of the globe, with regular rotation among the regions (especially between Europe and North America).

We currently seek proposals to host an IVNS Conference, or proposals for IVNS to co-sponsor conferences, in 2019. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. The beginning of consideration for proposals for 2019 will be November 7. No decisions regarding any 2019 funds will be made before Dec. 15. Unspent funds will be rolled forward to future years. The beginning of the proposal period for conferences planned for 2020 will be May 1, 2019, with those funds to be awarded and dispersed beginning as early as Aug. 1, 2019. Please submit proposals to: Stephen Blackwell, sblackwe@utk.edu; please contact the same to initiate early discussions of plans for conferences in 2020 and the following years. We hope to plan ahead and coordinate among priorities and regions.

With proposals, please include a detailed budget of estimated costs, along with a description of theme, anticipated structure, and number of special lectures or other events.

Best wishes to all,

Stephen Blackwell
Treasurer/Ad hoc Conferences Coordinator, IVNS
