PS to my previous post: the son of Baron d'Onsky and the Bohemian lady is a person with only one arm (3.8). One of young Chekhov's pennames was Chelovek bez selezyonki (Person without spleen). Of course, arm and spleen are not quite the same...

Btw., is the mutilation of d'Onsky fils in any way connected to the sting in the groin his father received in a sword duel with Demon or did he lose his arm in a war (the Crimean war with Tartars)?
