Hello,

You probably mean a passage from Nabokov's letter of February 20, 1937
(Selected Letters, 18-19): "The eastern side of every minute of mine is
already colored by the light of our impending meeting. All the rest is
dark, boring, you-less." Martin Amis has used it in his own work, first
in Night Train and more recently in The Pregnant Widow. He also quoted
the passage in his review of Nabokov's Selected Letters (The War Against
Cliché, 249-51).

Best regards,
Ludger Tolksdorf
