LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE SAINT PETERSBURG NABOKOV MUSEUM

Dear NABOKV-L Subscribers,

We in the Nabokov museum feel that we should offer a brief summary of the
museum's current situation.

It's true that the museum has a debt in back rent and is sued by the City
Property Commission. At the same time it is normal for cultural non-profit
organizations in St.Petersburg to occupy their space on the rent-free
basis. I'm convinced that our museum is especially eligible for rent waiver
since it preserves the memory of of the greatest St.Petersburg-born writer
in his native home.

The Museum's cause is receiving support from the city's Cultural
Committee, many public organizations and prominent cultural figures.

The museum will stay and will be open to visitors from all over the world.

Best wishes for the New Year to you all!

Tatyana Ponomareva, Director of the Saint Petersburg Nabokov Museum
