Dear friends:

Some days ago, while listening to Lolita's reading by Jeremy Irons
(great
performance, I think), I realized with horror that the book I read twice
(in
Spanish) was awfully censored all over the chapters. I knew dictator
Franco's censorship in Spain had mutilated the book, but I couldn't
imagine
we still couldn't read the original version (Franco died more than 25
years
ago!).

Indeed, in most latinamerican countries (I am from Chile) and in Spain
(as
long as I 've found out) we still have the same censored translation by
Enrique Tejedor (Ed. Anagrama, Spain).

I am trying to buy a book (in spanish) not abridged nor censored, but in
all
libraries (here in Chile) and in all hispanic libraries in internet they
all
have the same edition.

If somebody could give me some information on this matter (why this
happen
or where to find out more about this story), I would be very grateful.

Yours,

Luis Argandoсa
