Subject
Roger Shattuck on LOLITA, the novel.
Date
Body
Los Angeles, best known for its movie industry (second only to
Bombay's) is celebrating Book Week. In honor of the occasion, today's L.A.
Times Book Review carries a long article by Roger Shattuck called "The
Alibi of Art: What Baudelaire, Nabokov and Quentin Tarantino Have in
Common." The essay is a version of Shattuck's second annual Irving Howe
Memorial Lecture at City University of NY.
It is a good article, deserving notice and comment which I
haven't time to do myself. It may be available on the L.A. Times web site.
If someone will let me know, I'll pass on the information (URL).
