This is an easy way to read Web sites in Cyrillic characters on Windows 95
systems, like the new one of the Nabokovskii fond in St. Petersburg:
From the Control Panel, install Language Support from the Windows 95 CD
(you may select Cyrillic, Greek and East European). If your selection
includes Cyrillic, a Windows 95 based Web browser like the MS IExplorer
will automatically convert the HTML code for Cyrillic received into the
proper characters on the screen and in your printouts.
To type in Cyrillic characters yourself, install Russian keyboard support
from Control Panel/Keyboard.
Don't know about Macs. They are bound to have something similar.
