Sirin's popularity in the US. (fwd)

A burning little annoying nugget of a question has just popped up and I
need succor in order to return to the work that pays my bills and puts food
on my table.

Q: When Nabokov wrote as Sirin, was his work exported from Germany for
consumption by other Russian emigre populations? I remember my Russian
grandmother checking out these seemingly ancient novels in Russian from the
library at San Francisco's Russian Center. She was a big fan of Pushkin,
but I wonder if any of those old books could of been from our friend's
continental Golem.
