remembering 'Lolita' (fwd)

I am a graduate student in American Studies at Yale, seeking people's
memories of their first encounter with the novel 'Lolita.' My dissertation is
on reading as a leisure activity in the 1950s, and one chapter is on the
reception history of 'L'. I'd appreciate it if anyone could share with me
their memories of the novel-- whether at time of publication, or since. I'm
especiallly interested in people's age when the encountered it, whether they
came to it alone or through recommendations, the space (home, school,
library, etc) in which the book was found, and of course what your remember
about the story, language, characters, etc.
This is anecdotal research meant to fill in my mental picture of the novel;
it is not going to become a matter of record, so fear not.

Thanks is advance,

Trysh Travis
