EDITOR'S NOTE: Starting in 1993, the Nabokov Foundation, headquartered
in the old Nabokov home in St. Petersburg and headed by Vadim Stark,
hosts an annual program entitled "Nabokov Days in Petersburg." It
takes place around Nabokov's April 23rd birthday. Although the con-
ference is "international," it is a mostly Russian affair and news
about it is hard to come by. NABOKV-L ran a copy of the program for
the first gathering in April, 1993. Jane Grayson in London has now
kindly sent a copy of the 1994 program which is excerpted below.
Although the programs have included many Nabokov-related activities
such as musical events, films, art exhibits, excursions to "Nabokov
places," a chess problem competition, a PEN Club meeting, etc., the
material below is limited to papers presented at the 1994 conference.
The number and range of the papers shows the increasing vigor and
diversity of Nabokov studies in the land of the author's birth. If
anyone has a copy of the 1995 program, please let me know.
