CFP: Teaching Nabokov’s Lolita in the #MeToo Era (edited volume)

This volume seeks essays exploring the experiences of teaching Lolita in the #MeToo era. I hope to bring together responses to Nabokov’s art that blend pedagogy and critical analysis. After teaching the novel for many years, many of us have witnessed (and continue to witness) a fascinating shift in student responses to the text following the start of the #MeToo movement. We find ourselves rethinking the methodology of presenting Lolita to the class and navigating productive discussions. I see this volume as a space to share faculty insights, best practices, and starting a conversation about the evolving nature of the intellectual (and emotional) task of bringing Lolita to our students. Please send a 350 word abstract and a brief CV to Elena Rakhimova-Sommers elena.sommers@rit.edu by Friday, March 8th, 2019. Strong publisher interest.
