PS: There are two stories related to the Xmas theme. One is “The Christmas Story,” and the other is simply “Christmas” (these titles follow the information I gathered through the internet).
The first one is to be found online through a page in “The New York Review of Books.” The other one is published in VN’s Collected Short-Stories and describes the magic oriental moth hatching after it was moved to a warmer place. I had forgotten all about “the” Xmas story, but I truly enjoyed it in the past. Nabokov is that special kind of author who invites constant re-readings because there’s always a surprise, a missed turn, an exciting image.

I thought J.Osborne had asked for the BBC link with the broadcast. If he wants a digital copy of the story I can mail it later on to him, although I think It must be still accessible in “The New Yorker” (I didn’t check that now).
Thanks, AB, for the information about the Chekov quote and reference. I hope Stan K-B’s podal pareidolia improves, or changes from Madonna & baby towards Ascension. The tips to improve Mathematical skills are duly noted.

Yesterday I discovered too late to hear it that BBC Radio 4 broadcast a Nabokov Christmas short story on Christmas Day 2012.

If required I can supply some details.
