Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov

Two very good American friends have just offered me a nice present: Paul
Russell's "The Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov" (Cleis Press), his new novel
about our favorite author's own brother. I have just started reading it.
Herbert Gold claims that it is "a sidelong tribute to Nabokov - tender, sad,
and moving, with touches of the Maestro's elegance." I would not be so
laudatory for the moment; maybe I'll be of a different opinion by the time I
reach the end. It seems well documented, but the style is a little flat. Easy
to translate (though I am not planning to do it), a sign that the language is
certainly not on a par with that of Nabokov.
