Dear Anthony Stadlen,
The choices concerning the translation of "enchanter" have already arisen in our List some time ago and it was good to read your addendum about Kierkegaard on "seducers". 
In the same way as there seems to be a "duce" matrix in "seducer" ( as there is in "conductor" or in "educator") we could also look for  some kind of  "chanting" taking place during artistic 
incantatory processes. I believe that every  enchanter/writer could agree with that ( the music of words etc)  - but not "Arthur" who had to rely on his own private... "magic wand"!
