Very funny . . . and yet "Lolita, My Love" did almost make it to Broadway in 1971 after opening in Philadelphia and Boston (the Broadway opening was cancelled at the last moment). It starred John Neville as Humbert, Dorothy Loudon as Charlotte, Leonard Frey as Quilty, and Denise Nickerson as Lolita, and included such musical numbers as "In the Broken Promise Land of Fifteen," "Dante, Petrarch, and Poe," and "At the Bed-D-By Motel."
