When MR isolated the two "r" found in Kinbote's "statement that "Hazel Shade resembled me in certain respects", to evaluate them in the context of wordgames, his idea at first seemed promising. Not even letters inserted into a cross-word puzzle by trial and error yield such a cornucopia of riches [ MR:1. resembled: reassembled; 2. certain: in Webster's 2nd, it is listed as a cognate of "riddle" ...a seive... (Quite a list, when applied to PF!!); 3. respects: to look (specto) back (re-); to conclude in 4: Thus: Hazel Shade reassembled me in riddle look back...]
