My research on Edsel Ford conjures the following query. Is anyone
(Dmitri?) aware of a connection between VN and the writer Elliot
West? West was both a screenwriter and novelist. His books include
The Night is a Time for Listening, Man Running, and The Killing
Kind. In the late 1970s, he was head writer for Lou Grant, the
short-lived Mary Tyler Moore spinoff. I believe he resided in
Rome, Italy in the early 60s, and I'm curious whether or not he
may have encountered VN there.

Thanks,
Matt Roth
