This was Matthew's interesting quote 24/01/2007, not mine, I hasten to say. But I've just found the following quote by VN on Pound in the archives, which seemed to me entertaining enough to repeat:  "In a 1967 Paris Review interview, Vladimir Nabokov scoffed at 'the pretentious nonsense of Mr. Pound, that total fake.' "
