Please remember, "intelligent design", as equivalent to evolution, does not involve an origin of life.  Therefore, "intelligent design" could involve a superior being who originated life, yet let it evolve, which does not involve a fixed future.  Many mistake evolution for a theory of the origin of life, but it does not address this.  This changes the debate (the tape of life, when rewound, may not produce similar life forms if played again) which contradict any predictions.

"I would say that often, maybe not always, Nabokov uses literature as a model for Intelligent Design and in books, no matter  how "surprising" they may seem to the characters and the reader"

Isn't all fiction "intelligent design"--the creator knows the beginning, but may or may not know the end?
Evolution--it works in all contexts.

"It is absolutely safe to say that, if you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but I'd rather not consider that)."
