LH: I agree that Hazel was sort of "banished" to France, as was Bel when
Vadim married Louise (LATH) and possibly for the same reasons: Bel and
Louise didn't get along well, neither did Sybil and Hazel, if my reading is
correct.

MR: Thank you for reminding me of this. I believe that Bel was sent to
Switzerland, not France, but the point remains the same. And of course
Vadim's relationship with Bel is a CLEAR example of Father-Daughter incest.
Also, Vadim refers to Bel's "elfin" appearance, which makes her the third
"fey child" in VN's work.
