In a Portuguese site [ http://ffms.pt/xxi-ter-opiniao/artigo/664/uma-leitura-da-europa-ou-conrad-nabokov-lispector#login ] José Tavares writes a note about "UMA LEITURA DA EUROPA OU: CONRAD, NABOKOV, LISPECTOR" [2014 CRÓNICAS|EUROPA 12345(0)] in which he brings together Joseph Conrad, Vladimir Nabokov and Clarice Lispector, writers who were born in Eastern Europe (Berdichev, Ucraine; St. Petersburg; Tchetchelnik, Ucraine) to inquire if it is possible to understand something about Europe by their writings (in a second language), outside of Europe? I confess that the question seems to me rather vaguely phrased and that I don't see many points in common between the three.
