Dear List,

has anybody ever commented on the commonalities between "Pale Fire" and R. Chambers' "The Repairer of Reputations" (https://archive.org/stream/kinginyellow01chamgoog#page/n18/mode/2up)? The hero of the Chambers' story claims to be a king (of the "American Imperial dynasty", no than less) and scholar, but is more likely a madman, an unreliable narrator and a murderer. As a bonus, a cat plays a critical rôle in the plot.

(I checked the list archives to no avail.)

Thank you,
Nikita.
