Dear Reader...
We decided to hold our review of "Nabokov in America," published in June, to time with the publication of Nabokov's collected "Letters to Véra," reviewed on our cover by Martin Amis, in order to provide a broad portrait of the author. Daphne Merkin opens her incisive essay about the first book with the question, "Who would have thought there'd be more to say about Vladimir Nabokov?" We hope our reviews of these two books will make the answer clear.
