When the projects which interpret and clarify near completion [a
hundred years or so], "Pale Fire" will survive [along with works by
Mann, Freud and Faulkner] because of resonance with the lives of
individual readers. Thomas Bolt offers a wonderful example/hypothesis
of such empathy. There must be hundreds more, including the one VN kept
to himself.
