Ein KЭnstler in zwei Welten
Regietalent: Branko Simic inszeniert Nabokovs Short Story "Zufall" auf Kampnagel. Heute ist Premiere.

Hamburg - ZufДllig las Branko Simic auf einer Reise im Nachtzug von ZЭrich nach Rom ErzДhlungen von Vladimir Nabokov. Eine davon hieъ "Zufall". Sie hat ihn seither nicht losgelassen. Eigentlich wollte er die melancholische Kurzgeschichte verfilmen. Sie erzДhlt von einem Paar auf der Flucht, das sich im Express Berlin-Paris um Haaresbreite verfehlt. Nun wurde aus dem lakonischen Text ein filmisches TheaterstЭck. In Eva Maria StЭtings BЭhnenbearbeitung und Simics Inszenierung hat "Zufall" heute Premiere in der Kampnagelfabrik.

Kein Zufall ist, dass der Kroate aus Bosnien an dieser Short Story hДngen geblieben ist. Wie Nabokovs Protagonisten ! den politischen Unruhen der russischen Revolution ausweichen, ist Simic 1992 vor dem Krieg in seiner Heimat geflohen und fand glЭcklicherweise bei einer Tante in Hamburg Obdach.

Er hatte an der Akademie der Szenischen KЭnste in Sarajevo Schauspiel studiert. "Im Krieg war plЖtzlich alles anders. Ich konnte mich mit keiner Partei identifizieren. Im Gegensatz zu jenen Leuten, die in den Kampf gezogen sind. Ich ahnte das kommende Chaos, das sowohl lokalen wie globalen Charakter hat." Die Geschichte zeige: "In Krisenzeiten brennt der Balkan. Er dient als Ventil fЭr die international angespannte Lage."

Der Neustart in Hamburg war schwierig. Simic, 1968 im bosnischen Tuzla geboren und dort schon als ZwЖlfjДhriger in einer freien Theatergruppe, sprach kein Wort Deutsch, musste sich in der Fremde erst zurechtfinden. 1996 begann er das Regiestudium bei JЭrgen Flimm an der UniversitДt. "Man kam mir entgegen und ermutigte mich. Inszenieren war fЭr mich eine logische Kon! sequenz. Schon beim Schauspieltraining war mir nicht egal, aus welchem Glas ich trinke. Mich faszinieren ZusammenhДnge am Theater."

Erste Inszenierungen entstanden bereits wДhrend des Studiums. Becketts "Endspiel" war im TiK und an den Kammerspielen zu sehen, seine Diplomarbeit "Ein Grabmal fЭr Boris Dawidowitsch" nach einer Novelle von Danilo Kis 2000 auf Kampnagel.

Dort hat Simic Walter Kohls "Ritzen" mit Gloria Brillowska produziert und erhielt dafЭr den Hamburger FЖrderpreis fЭr Theaterregie 2002. Auch Erfahrung am Stadttheater hat der Regisseur gesammelt, in WЭrzburg "Gier" von Sarah Kane herausgebracht und "Ritzen" nochmals in Greifswald. Zuletzt erregte seine "Dreigroschenoper" Aufsehen in Sarajevo. Sie entstand mit Schauspielstudenten und hatte Premiere beim internationalen experimentellen Festival MESS neben AuffЭhrungen von Peter Brook und Nicolas Stemann. Aus dem Brecht-StЭck hat er eine HipHop-Oper gemacht. Brisanz erhielt sie durch den jetzigen sozialen und politischen Kontext in Bosnien. "Mafia und Staat sind doch! praktisch eins. Durch die RealitДt bekamen Brechts Theorien Boden, sein StЭck wurde aggressiver und dynamischer."

Simic, dessen private wie kЭnstlerische Kontakte zur Heimat nie abgerissen sind, reflektiert in seinem ErzДhltheater kritisch die Kunst und die Zeit: "Der Inhalt der Geschichten bestimmt die Form." Mit Heiner MЭller glaubt er: "AktualitДt der Kunst ist morgen." Er lДsst sich von Neuen Medien und der europДischen Kunstfilmtradition eines Fellini und Tarkovskij inspirieren. Auch von den eigenen Erfahrungen und LebensumbrЭchen.

"Meine Vision von der Welt ist schwarz. Und auf diese schwarze RealitДt sollte Theater hinweisen." In "Zufall" untersucht er auъerdem die MЖglichkeiten, eine filmische Geschichte mit den Techniken des Films auf die BЭhne zu bringen. "Ich denke, davon kЖnnte das Theater profitieren. Seine Banalisierung zum Event oder zur puren Spaъkunst ist eine Horrorvision."

Hamburg - coincidental read Branko Simic on a journey in the night train from Zurich to Rome narrations of Vladimir Nabokov. One of it was called "coincidence". It did not release it since that time. Now a cinematic play became from the laconic text. In EH Maria Stuetings treatment of stages and Simics production "coincidence" has today premiere in the Kampnagelfabrik.

No coincidence is that the Croat from Bosnia to these Short Story hang! remained. How Nabokovs Protagonisten evade to political unrests of the Russian revolution, Simic fled 1992 before the war in its homeland and found fortunately with an aunt in Hamburg shelter.

It had studied play at the academy of the Szeni arts in Sarajevo. "in the war was suddenly everything different. I could identify myself with no party. Contrary to those people, which pulled into the fight. I suspected the coming chaos, both a local and global character have." History shows: "in crisis periods the Balkans burns. It serves as valve for the internationally strained situation."

The restart in Hamburg was difficult. Simic, 1968 in the Bosnian Tuzla born and there already as a twelve-year-old boy in a free group of theatres, spoke no word German, had in the foreigner to only get along. 1996 it began the direction study with Juergen Flimm at the university. First productions developed already during the study. Becketts "final game" was to be seen in the TiK and at the chamber plays, its thesis (diploma) "a tomb for Boris Dawidowitsch" after a novella of Danilo Kis 2000 on Kampnagel.

From the piece of breaking it made an HipHop opera. Explosiveness received it by the current social and political context in Bosnia. "Mafia and state are nevertheless practically one. By the ! reality Brechts theories soil got, its piece became more aggressive and more dynamic."

Simic, whose private is torn off never like artistic contacts to the homeland, reflects the art and the time critically in its telling theatre: "contents of stories determine the form." With Heiner Mueller he believes: "topicality of the art is tomorrow." It can be inspired by new media and the European art film tradition of a Fellini and a Tarkovskij. Also of the own experiences and life pagings.

In "coincidence" it in addition the possibilities examine of bringing a cinematic history with the techniques of the film on the stage. "I think, of it the theatre could profit.
