had a query as to whether telephone (and other "remote") bids are possible
at the May 5 auction? Dmitri Nabokov replies:
The answer is YES, by all means. They plan to have 20 operators
standing by to reply to calls, e-mails and, I presume, faxes. Tajan's
permanent Paris numbers are (from the US) tel 011 33
1 53 30 30 79 ; fax 011 33 1 53 30 30 31 ; e-mail <livres-bd@tajan.org>. During the auction,
which will take place at the Hôtel des Bergues, Geneva, on 5
May, and, I presume, during the exhibition on May 3 and 4, there will
be special numbers for Geneva, Switzerland, that those 20 operators will be
answering. I shall make sure that you and the List are kept informed, and shall
ask them to send you a catalogue (on whose trilingual preface I am now working).
I am told they expect a large number of bids from abroad.
