It surely looks like coming from Russian "v rezul'tate" -  literally, "in result" [of something]. 

These prepositions, let alone articles, are very often a pain for (to) us non-native speakers. But then our Russian revenge are cases (padezhi) (see e.g.  http://www.du.edu/langlit/russian/instr.htm).
