An interesting slip on the part of Andrew Brown: calling Virginia
Woolf's
book Floss. The title is actually Flush, but the name of Colette's dog
that
comes bounding back to Nabokov in Speak, Memory is Floss! Floss! Floss!
Which is not far off from the Flush! Flush! Flush! early in chapter one
of
Woolf's book (published in 1933).
