Dear list,
I'm doing some prep work for a class (partially) on VN and am wondering
about VN's opinion of Andre Gide. Did VN in fact know Gide? Kinbote
mentions Gide the Lucid's book about "black imps," a clear reference to
Gide's L'immoraliste, and we know that Gide wrote the intro to the Cresset
edition of Hogg's Confessions, which VN may have read. Any other
connections? Any essays out there?

Thanks,
Matt Roth
