about. On Oprah's website you can find this article about
the Five Books Everyone Should Read
At Least Once. Their picks are Lolita
by Vladimir Nabokov, Four Quartets
by TS Eliot, The Wisdom of the Desert: Sayings from the
Desert Fathers of the Fourth Century translated by Thomas
Merton, Waiting for Godot
by Samuel Beckett and Things Fall Apart
by Chinua Achebe.
First of all, I'm not entirely sure that lists like this are such a good idea. Who have given the author of this article and Oprah the authority to say that these are books everyone should have read? Of course, I might be a bit put off because I haven't personally read any of these books.
