I cannot find the original query, but here are four
instances of Quilty, Charlotte, Humbert and Jean Farlow saying the
name "Lolita" in the script written by VN.
Jansy
1. (Quilty frivolously answers with a grin on his face:
"Lo-li-tah. Yeah, yeah. I remember that name, all right. Maybe she made some
telephone calls. Who cares?" )
2. (Humbert is dismayed by Charlotte's
comment that "tonight's the night! Well, Lolita told me that she's positive
Kenny's gonna ask her to go steady tonight." )
Quilty: (...) Yes, really great fun. Listen,
listen, din, din you have a dawda (daughter)? Din you have a dawda with a lovely
name? Yeah, a lovely, what was it now, a lovely lyrical lilting name like, uh,
uh...
Charlotte: Lo-li-ta.
Quilty:
Lo-li-ta, that's right. Lolita. Diminutive of Dolores, the tears and the roses.
(Jean Farlow: Try to think of your poor little Lolita, all alone
in the world. You must live for her sake.)
