As far as I know, Prof.Barabtarlo has written in Old Cyrillic Orthography all his life (I'll bet he even did it in high school) and probably some of the teachers were upset.

Graphically to my eye and ear it does look and sound much more expressive and subtle. New Style is sterile and flat.
