Alexey,

What puzzles me as a reader is the word "palmist," suggesting of course "psalmist" - any thoughts? Could the reference to "the Sister of your Life" throw any light on the theme of incest (possibly another case of Nabokovian misdirection?) in Ada?

So, is the L disaster a reference to Leibniz and Lisbon and Lermontov? Oddly enough you might be onto something. Your comparison of the greek/russian shape of miniscule L to an inverted latin V reminds me that I thought there might be a connection to Victor Hugo and his use of the letter V as his symbol to Vaniada's use of a similar symbol in Ada ... It all seems so long ago.
