I don't know if I'd say I was wrong..... I'm no expert in this arena, but I did say (in off-list discussions w/ Carolyn Kunin) that "никто б" has to imply some verb phrase or other coming after; this citation from Mozart and Salieri is incredibly apt and adds wonderful new dimensions to think about in PF.
