 I believe the commentator feel his "sense of humor" is shown by getting some digs in (the "pale" and "parrot" cracks for John Shade, and the "furies and harridans" for Sybil) while pretending he doesn't know "Hurricane Lolita" refers to a novel by Nabokov. I believe the commentator gets the reference. Matt Roth wrote: In the Index, under the "Kinbote" entry, Kinbote gives us the following: "his sense of humor, 680;" While there may be a touch of wit in Kinbote’s entry, it doesn’t seem to merit special mention. Am I missing something?
