Many of Nabokov's titles feature a single word, either a proper name (Mary, "Lance," Lolita, Ada) or an abstract noun (Glory, Despair); others feature a single noun preceded by an article (The Eye, The Gift). 

What do you make of a three-part sequence like King, Queen, Knave and "Cloud, Castle, Lake"?  (And why not "Lake, Castle, Cloud"?)
