Greetings,

For years now I have been trying to recall a Nabokov passage where he speaks to a dog as if it were fetching a memory and returning with it.

I remember that the dog returns triumphant.

My own inner dog has, however, never returned, and so I would be grateful if someone can point me to the passage.  I suspect it is in Speak Memory.

EDNote: The passage requested is probably the one that links pp. 150, 151, & 152 (concerning "Floss", Collette's female fox terrier) in the Vintage Int'l edition of Speak, Memory--not exactly a fetch, but it does feel like one.  -SB
