       Some years ago I  too,  as quondam prez of the VN Society,  contacted the US Post Office about this and was eventually informed that some advisory committee had rejected the proposal.

I suspect that LOLITA (the movie?) was the extent of their knowledge of Nabokov. My wife  just came home from a visit to Post Office with blocks of stamps depicting those cultural immortals Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Cash---both favorites of ours, but really now....
