Happy birthday, Nabokov!
Here is my sentence:
The hotel’s bar, Funky Claude’s, was the dingy establishment I inevitably found myself on most birthdays drinking far too many gin and pineapple juice cocktails; a favorite drink of mine that I had invented during a stay at a friend’s, who lived in a distant and northern land, and to my appall, kept a poorly stocked liquor cabinet.
(Funky Claude's is the name of the bar in the Montreux Palace)
