P.S: In Don´s message, Santos-Dumont´s plane "Demoiselle" was compared to a "grasshopper monoplane". The cartoon about the Brazilian invention pictured an odonata insect, a damsel-fly or demoiselle.
I referred to the plane incorrectly as "Mademoiselle" after I´d been excising from my quotes about Ardis all the bicycles,,jikkers, explosions and a Mademoiselle (Mlle.Larivière).
I was also struck by the word "google" in the digital version I used ( "he had left his bicycle to endure the blazing beams for at least three hours. Ada mounted it, uttered a yelp of pain, almost fell off, googled, recovered - and the rear tire burst with a comic bang".)
