Alexey Sklyarenko has discovered Aqua's hair color (apparently black) and and allows me to forward the following to the List:
I think that both Aqua and Marina have dark hair. Cf.: "She [Aqua] wanted (and was allowed, bless the hospital barber, Bob Bean) to have her dark curls shaved to an aquamarine prickle, because they grew into her porous skull and curled inside." (1.3) Van also has (like Aqua, but probably unlike Marina?) curly hair ("the wind played a Medusian havoc with his dark curls" at the end of Part Two, when Van goes home and contemplates a suicide).
I responded "they (A & M) must both be curly since they are apparently identical twins, physically at any rate. I don't imagine Marina with curly hair -- but she obviously uses artificial means." To which Alexey responded:
The curly hair links Van with Aqua, at least spiritually, and not with Marina (yes, she probably uncurls her locks -- I also can imagine her only with a straight hair).
