EDITOR's NOTE. Vadim Linetski <picador@luckynet.co.il> is the author of
_Anti-Baxtin, ili samaya luchshaya kniga o Nabokove_ (_Anti-Bakhtin, or
the best book about VN) which is reviewed in the current (1996) volume of
NABOKOV STUDIES. Vadim Linetski's work is "post-modern" in the most
extreme sense and rests heavily on the theories of Lacan and Derrida using
VN chiefly as a "launching pad." NABOKV-L readers with strong interest in
theory will want to look at his work. Be forewarned that Mr. Linetski is a
scholar with a sense of humor and not all of his observations need be
taken at face value.

Vadim Linetski offers the following comment: "my stance differs basically
from conventional "Nabokovianism": I would not claim the honorary title of
a Nabokov scholar: Nabokov's texts are (ab)used in my writings to
illustrate theoretical elaborations. And yet I hope that in so doing I
manage to say smth suggestive to "regular" Nabokovians. Be it as it may, I
profit from the work of the latter and am following the developments in
Nabokov scholarship trying to cite as many titles as possible.
