We can't forget one of the most frequently heard musical renditions of the
theme, can we -- "Don't Stand So Close to Me," recorded in 1980? or so by the
Police, whose lead singer "Sting" was an English teacher in another life.
The "young teacher" is the "subject/Of schoolgirl fantasy." As it happens
the fantasy is reciprocated, and when the passionate schoolgirl is near --
"He starts to shake and cough
Just like the

(Chorus) Don't stand so close to me ... "

Der Schtingle can be a pontificating pain at times, but this was one of his
better moments. Thanks to Seth Young -- I always thought Gina, not Lolita,
was the punk rocker. Great song!
This is funny, when you consider what VN ("I detest such things as jazz")
must have thought of rock and roll.
