I have to jump in this forum real quick and say a couple of things!
First, there was no better author than Nabokov. That is just plain fact,
but to compare him to Faulkner or to say that Faulkner can't hold up
with him is ridiculous. I teach American Lit at UNC and one of my
favorite topics is William Faulkner. I don't like people who find him
uncomprehendible and just talk junk about him. Par for par, i think
faulkner overshadows nabokov incredibly as for lasting power. However,
nabokov is my second favorite author, I just don't think he is in any
way connected with faulkner and shouldn't be put in the same category!
