Trivia: NABOKV-L in ESQUIRE
Date
Body
The Feb. Elizabeth Kaye ESQUIRE story on the Lyne-Schiff LOLITA is
accompanied by a short profile of the story and its author in the
"Backstage with Esquire" section (p. 14). In part, it read: "Forty years
later, Nabokov's nymphet continues to stir readers' passions. Even on
NABOKV-L, an electronic mailing list maintained by amateur Nabokovians and
scholars, it was fiercely debated this fall whether LOLITA was appropriate
reading for teenagers or was too "corrupting." The answer was yes on both
counts.
