Body
Dear Nabokovians,

I write to invite paper proposals for the Nabokov Society's confirmed session at the next MLA, which will be in New York Jan 4-8 2018. The subject is 'Nabokov and Correspondence', which can be interpreted with reference to Nabokov's letter-writing, to letters in Nabokov's fiction, poetry, and other literary works, or, to some extent, in relation to other related issues. Please see the call for papers below, noting that proposals need to be sent to me, to this e-mail address (T.Karshan@uea.ac.uk), by March 20th.

best wishes,

Thomas

Call for Papers: Nabokov and Correspondence
The International Vladimir Nabokov Society is soliciting proposals on the subject of 'Nabokov and Correspondence' for its guaranteed MLA Panel at the 2018 Modern Language Association Conference, which will take place in New York City from January 4th to January 7th.
In the light of the recent publication of Nabokov's Letters to Vera, and of Alex Beam's new book on Nabokov's relationship with Edmund Wilson, conducted in large part through letter-writing, there is a particular timeliness to the subject of Nabokov as a correspondent. But letters and correspondence are an important theme and device in Nabokov's writing more broadly. Proposals are therefore invited which may deal either with any part of Nabokov's correspondence, or with letters and correspondence in Nabokov's fiction, poetry, and drama, or both. Proposals may also take in related subjects, such as address, intimacy, friendship, enmity.
250-350 word abstracts by March 20, 2018. t.karshan@uea.ac.uk<mailto:t.karshan@uea.ac.uk>
