I loved your Laughter in the Parx posting... I was going to write to you about it but you were faster!
Thanks for your return with data about the uses of this word.
For me, "affection" and "fondness" are the most truly human emotions ( and Demon's words, amazingly, are those that come closer to this realization, in the sense that I use here)

I don't know where this fits in, but I find that sometimes people sign letters
"fondly" when they want to create distance, or protest too much against signing
"love," or really aren't fond of one at all and "fond" is a dart, or at least
dismissive and unserious. And in other circumstances, "fondly" comes across
as sincere and as an approach to or aspiration for or signal of greater intimacy and affection.
