Subject
a BIRTHDAY proposal?
Date
Body
To the List,

I would like to propose, in opposition to recent discussion of
examples of Nabokovian cruelties, that in honor of his birthday we
discuss examples of Nabokovian generosity and acts of loving-kindness.
While I can think of examples of the former, I must admit to ignorance
of the latter. He did express tender concerns from time to time - -
but although I know Dmitri and Brian Boyd like to harp on VN's
virtues, awareness of a single act of loving-kindness escapes me.
Waiting (and this time hoping) to be proved wrong as usual,

Hello everyone,

Please plan to send your toasts, jokes, warm wishes, poems, images,
parodies, favorite passages, memories of your introduction to VN,
tidbits, anecdotes, tributes, and other Nabokoviana to share with the
List on Nabokov's birthday, April 23. Put "BIRTHDAY" in the subject
heading or just reply to this message anytime between now and then.
Nabokovian party favors will start appearing in your mailbox next
Friday.
