Dear List,
This year we will begin celebrating the anniversary of Nabokov's birth -- which falls on Monday, April 23 -- over the preceding weekend. Several subscribers to NABOKV-L have already sent in birthday wishes, tokens, and jeux d'esprit in one form or another, and we hope to receive many more. Such tributes, all labeled with the subject heading "BIRTHDAY," will be gradually distributed to the List, beginning tonight and ending on Monday.
