Dear List,

Although VN certainly would have enjoyed the cinematic card tricks, poems, images, and game of "Botkin, Botkin, who's got the Botkin?" with which we have celebrated his birthday this year, he also might have welcomed more practical efforts to honor his memory. If you'd like to make a gesture on his behalf, please consider sending a donation to the Nabokov Museum. The Museum, which was founded in April 1998, not only preserves the house in St. Petersburg where VN was born but also hosts exhibits, readings, conferences, film screenings, tours, and other events devoted to his work:

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please write a check payable to the Friends of the Nabokov Museum, Inc., and mail it to:

Tatiana Ponomareva, the director, recently came to London for the official opening of the Nabokov Museum's first traveling exhibition on "The ABC, Butterflies, and Chess." Priscilla Meyer took the attached photograph of a beaming Tatiana (who agreed to have the image shared on NABOKV-L).

Sincerely yours,

Susan Elizabeth Sweeney
